My biggest complaint would be the fence as it is only passable. I keep it on the edge of my bench with a trashcan positioned to capture the chips. I've used it to face and edge joint some smaller stock to make drawers and and small table top and it worked great. Another reviewer mentioned making a new fence from MDF and I think that it's a great idea only I would veneer melamine or hardboard to the MDF.I think this jointer will work fine for anybody jointing smaller stock (roughly 4ft or so and shorter) and if you keep your removal depth on the light side(which I think is good advice for any planer/jointer) It's a great size for a smaller shop. I probably wouldn't go more than 1/8" even on soft pine. I bought this as a closeout for only $100.00 so I cannot complain about anything.
The table was pretty good right out of the box. My jointer was missing the push blocks out of the box; I contacted customer service and new blocks were sent out immediately. It is the perfect size for my small shop. The dust/chip collection isn't all that great. Even if I had paid full price I would feel satisfied with my purchase. The set up was fairly easy except for squaring the fence which took a little while.
I kept the setting at about 1/32" and that was fine.
Completely satisfied with the purchase and recommend to anyone in need of a decent priced performer. There are bigger ones, more expenssive models and those with a more bells and whistles but this is a great price, solid build and does what it is meant to do.for seven years. Excellent benchtop jointer. We purchased this about 7 years ago and it is still going strong.
KNOBS THAT INTERFERE WITH EACH OTHER. ALL OF THE UNITS HAD ONE OR BOTH TABLES THAT WERE WARPED OR HAD UNEVENLY MACHINED MOUNTING BOSSES. THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS A FLIMSLY FENCE AND HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL ADJ. I WENT THROUGH FOUR UNITS IN A PERIOD OF 2 WEEKS AND NONE OF THEM OPERATED PROPERLY. I HAD NO PROBLEM GETTING REPLACEMENTS OR IN THE CASE OF THE LAST UNIT, A REFUND. ALL FOUR UNITS WERE TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DELTA FACTORY SERVICE FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THEY COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THEY EITHER CUT A TAPER OR PUT A LOW SPOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOARD ELIMINATING ANY KIND OF AN ACCEPTABLE JOINT. THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT ON EITHER TABLE OTHER THAN ELEVATION ON THE INFEED TABLE.
it is powerfull enough to plain 6" rock maple without stalling (although at minimium stock removal) Tool is fairly good for a jointer in this price range.
A bit loud on high speed but not too bad- wear protection. Good on small to mid size projects.Nice speed controls.
